[HERO] Classic Rock, Zero Auditions: Join Our Community Choir in North Vancouver

Hi Everyone!

If you’ve ever belted “Don’t Stop Believin’” in North Shore traffic like it’s your job… you’re already one of us. Now you just need a room full of people doing it with you (and yes, it’s way more fun than confusing the driver beside you).

Welcome to the Classic Rock Community Choir at COJA Music Academy, right here in North Vancouver. This is the community choir North Vancouver singers join when they want big choruses, good laughs, and a weekly excuse to do something that isn’t another screen-based hobby.

No robes. No weird formality. Just classic rock, harmonies, and a seriously friendly crew.

The Vibe: Contemporary, Fun, and Very “COJA”

At COJA Music Academy, we’re all about contemporary music. Pop. Rock. Jazz. Real songs you actually want stuck in your head. Our classic rock community choir is the same vibe: high-energy, welcoming, and built for adults who love the music of the 60s, 70s, 80s, and 90s.

Think: Queen, U2, Tom Petty, Bowie, Fleetwood Mac, and the kind of choruses you can feel in your ribs.

Plus, we’re not a “stand still and behave” situation. We sing. We move. We laugh. We sound huge.

No Auditions. Seriously.

Let’s make this easy: there are no auditions.

If the word “audition” makes you want to fake an injury and disappear into the bushes, you’re safe here. This is a community group. It’s about the love of rock. It’s about showing up.

Whether you haven’t sung since high school, or you’re a seasoned shower superstar, you’ve got a spot. We do 3- and 4-part harmonies, and after many hours of editing and refining, we’ve made the arrangements accessible while still sounding massive as a group.

“Do We Actually Learn Stuff?” Yep.

You’ll have fun. You’ll also get better.

Each rehearsal includes practical coaching that feels a lot like singing lessons North Vancouver adults wish they’d started years ago: warmups that make sense, technique you can use immediately, and tips that keep your voice happy (even when you’re going full stadium-chorus).

You’ll learn how to:

  • blend with other voices (without disappearing)
  • sing harmonies without panic
  • hit big notes without forcing it
  • build confidence, week by week

Meet People. Like, Real People.

This might be the most underrated part: it’s a genuinely great way to meet people in North Vancouver.

You show up every week. You sing together. You laugh at the same lyric mistakes. You end up chatting before and after rehearsal. Friendships happen fast when you’re all trying to nail “Killer Queen” together.

If you’re new to the area, craving a community vibe, or just want a social thing that isn’t “networking,” this is it.

Yes, We Perform (Because Rock Demands It)

We don’t rehearse just to rehearse. We build toward performances. Real stages. Real energy. That “wait… is that us?” feeling when the sound hits.

It’s the COJA way: contemporary music, confidence-building, and performance opportunities that make it all feel worth it.

If You’re Waiting Until You’re “Good Enough”…

Don’t. That day is mythical.

The fastest way to get better is to sing with people who are also learning, also trying, and also there because they love the music. If you’ve been searching for a community choir North Vancouver that feels modern, welcoming, and actually fun, this is your sign.

Plus, if anyone asks what you did Monday night, you get to say: “Rock choir.” Instant personality upgrade.
